Yorkie Saves Elderly Woman from Akita

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." (Mark Twain)

In New York in 1991, an elderly woman was outside doing yard work, accompanied by her pet dog, a cockapoo. The neighbor's Akita escaped from its yard, ran across the street, and began to attack the elderly woman. Her dog attempted to protect her but was unable to, and ran away.

In the meantime, a Yorkshire Terrier - also owned by a neighbor - ran to the elderly woman to help. He managed to get the attention of the Akita by dancing and barking persistently until the Akita dropped the woman and pursued the Yorkie instead. The Yorkie then took protection underneath a car. He suffered only a wound that required a few stitches.

As a result of this little dog's actions, the elderly woman was pulled to safety and survived.
