Fellow Pet Lover who wishes all stories turned out like ours

Hi, everyone.

My name is Mandy and I recently became a dog owner a little over a year ago.

I was only just looking when I stumbled across an ad that said Wheaten/Schnauzer cross for free.

He was 18 mths and you never, ever get a dog that young for free. So I called.

The breeder who had a farm needed to get rid of him because he was disruptive to her other dogs. He put one in the hospital while they were fighting over females.

She told me he came from a long line of fearful, nervous dogs and she tried to sell him 4 times and he kept getting brought back.

Then this woman told me that if she couldn't get rid of him she was going to have him destroyed.

Pick the Best Cat Litter for Your Feline

If you love your pet cat very much and want to provide the best for it, then make sure to get the best cat litter for it. This is as much important as providing good food and shelter to your feline. Cats can be very choosy about the litter they use and so one must make sure to provide them with the best one possible. Finding the best one in the market can be a tough job especially when your local pet store is flooded with dozens of varieties of cat litter.

An Inspirational read for pet lovers, me anyway

Hi to all on the Forum. I love my cats, and am also involved in occasional animal welfare work, such as rescuing stray cats and fund-raising for animal-friendly causes.

I read a very moving book recently on the subject of animal protection and the issues that arise from it, one I heartily recommend. It's Bad Hare Days by John Fitzgerald. It’s the memoir of a dedicated animal protection activist.

The book's theme is so topical, and certainly one familiar to animal lovers worldwide…an animal rights cause is taken up by people who have different ideas about how to tackle the issue…while some favour peaceful legal means such as letter-writing to the media and protest pickets, others resort to “direction action” methods that entail acting outside the law.
