Pet friendly care homes - your opinion

By maps4pets - Posted on 07 April 2010

Hi Everyone

Just thought I would let you know of some developments within the pet friendly community within the UK.

At the moment we are promoting UK pet friendly care homes via our not-for-profit website (maps4pets.com) and the Cinnamon Trust. What are your views on this subject matter and the general question of seperating the elderly from their pets when the time arrises for them to go into care homes?

Regards

Julia

Ideally seniors shouldn't have to be separate from their pets. In a shared living situation like a care home how would it be managed? From a practical standpoint I can't see how the staff could manage and care for several pets living in the same facility. Presumably if the senior is living in such a facility they need help in caring for their pets. Pet visitation therapy is maybe a better idea for a care home.
