Lacie, The cat that chose me.

When I was 4 years old, I went to the humane society with my family to look at some of the animals. With "no intent" on buying any of them, but everyone knows how that always ends up. I remember petting this 8 week old tiger kitten on the top cage, when I was curious of other animals, i stopped petting her and continued to look at the other cats. Playing and sleeping like a normal cat would, the rest were doing what cats do. But the tiger kitten, reached through and grabbed my hair with a claw. I looked up, and she was looking at me, i turned around, and she did it again. I turned back to pet her once more, and when i tried to walk away, she reached that paw out again grabbed my hair. This cat was not about to let me get away. We couldnt leave her there, so we adopted her. She loved to play, and even ended up clawing me a good one on the way home, but I was still determined to hold her. Her favorite play thing was a peice of crafting string, hence giving her name "Lacie". As the years went by this cat was always there for me, with constantly fighting parents, i found myself in my room alone, when she would walk in and i would pet her until the tears stopped. She waited for me after school, after accidents i had, everything that happened, she was there. More like a person than I never, she would continue to visit my father after my parents got divorced. she loved the outdoors and she always camped with me in her younger years. In her later years, most of her time was spent outside, coming home from work exhausted, i always held her, full of energy at 15 years old, i would put her down inside and go to sleep. Every time i woke up she was there. Times when we ran out of oil for heat, I remember the only warmth i found was the same comfort i'd grown accustomed to as a child. Today she fell asleep under the rear tire of the truck when my mother went off for work, she held in long enough so when i woke up, i could say goodbye when she was still warm from the loving life she lived. Ive been to many funerals, ive seen many people die, but not nearly as many tears fell then as when i learned my best companion had passed. Its the hardest thing ive ever dealt with. RIP lacie, I love you.

Oh my gosh. I love that story, it's so tragic though. I hope i never loose my best compainion, coincidentally named Lacie, who is my little kitty cat. She's not so little though, she's actually really big and really really furry. I don't know what I'd do without her, and I'm sorry what happened to your Lacie. ='{
