Boarding Kennels

By wbertin - Posted on 26 July 2009

I know this whole site is for pet friendly vacations and for years I have taken my dogs with me always. They have been to Las Vegas, Orlando, down the Oregan coast, all over Canada etc. But I bought a timeshare last year and want to take advantage of traveling to different countries now for a week a year. I am going to continue to take dog friendly holidays for the other weeks of the year that I am on holidays. I am looking for the best kennels in Alberta from experience. I am in the Edmonton area, but would travel to where ever for the best service for my dogs. I have 2 dogs, one being a 10 yr old BC that has never been in a kennel. I can't do an in house service because my other dog is an 8 month old BC cross and she needs alot of stimulation. I am very particular and haven't found exactly what I am looking for in a kennel. The kennel can be obscure and out of the way and cost is not a concern.

These are some of the things I am looking for:

-big kennels with indoor/outdoor runs or similar
-separate kennels for each dogs but playtime together out in a yard or offleash walks
-the ability to bring a vari-kennel with their own bedding to be placed in the kennel for their resting time
-not many dogs, high ratio of people to dogs

or

-daycare situation (with other dogs) with supervised play all the time
-can even have common sleeping areas, but must be supervised all the time.
-not many dogs, high ratio of people to dogs

Let me know what you think.

In Victoria is Nirvana Pet Resort. Staff are with the dogs all day/night long, and no runs or kennels.

We boarded our dog at Country Club Pet Resort (Calgary) http://www.countryclub-petresort.com My dog doesn't like being boarded but he seemed happy when we picked him up. We bought extra play time and walks for him to keep him busy.
