Advice - lost dog
About one week ago we started to see a dog who we think is lost, running through the fields at the back of our neighbourhood. He looked pretty good and is wearing a collar but he's very scared and won't come when we call him. We have tried approaching him very slowly but he flees the moment we take a step towards him. We've put out food and tried to lure him with treats but nothing is working.
He did look like he was in good condition but I don't know how much longer that will last. We put an ad in the newspaper and called the SPCA and the pound with the tip and his description. No one has called us and I'm worried about the dog.
Anyone know how we can catch him? He is so skittish. We don't know what to do.
Hopefully you have caught this poor boy by now. We had a similar situation with a dog who was hanging around out street trying to steal food. We went out every day and talked to him even though he wouldn't come to us. After two weeks he finally came near enough for us to throw him food. We did this for another week until we could get close enough to slip a leash around his neck. It's a happy ending, he's now our dog and has been with us for over a year! I hope you catch this dog. Try placing an ad in the paper to see if anyone responds, most "found dog" ads are free I think.
