I wrote the original story of Beijing and Shanghai. As of November 2009, Shanghai is still going strong and has a younger brother now named Taipei. Taipei is 2 years old and is a "hairy-hairless" crested. We rescued him from a shelter. He is almost the same size as Shanghai, but Shanghai weighs 15 lbs and Taipei weighs 11. Taipei is a gazelle in disguise. He flits through the rooms of our house and sails over the furniture without even touching the floor (or at least it seems so). Shanghai thinks Taipei is a pain in the neck because he always wants to run and play. They both sleep in our bed and are very strongly bonded to my husband and me and the kids.

My only complaint is that they bark like fiends whenever anyone knocks on the door. I know we should be training them out of this, but they enjoy the mayhem so much. Life is good.
