Rabbits with sore hocks

By rdrewniak1 - Posted on 26 September 2011

Hi there,

I'm Ryan, and I've got a 2 year old standard rex rabbit (black otter coloring) named "Boris." (You can see a picture of him, here...The Standard Rex Rabbitry).

About a year ago, we discovered that he was showing signs of "sore hocks" (a condition characterized by irritation of the bottoms of his "heels"). My wife and I have come up with an interesting little solution to the problem. We have to bandage his little feet with "modified" baby socks.

Does anyone out there have experience in dealing with sore hocks?
