There must be other options! I don't know your situation but surely there is someone who will adopt your cats or who will take care of them temporarily until you are in a position to get them back. Do you have friends or family who can care for them for a while? Have you tried finding an adopter (permanent or temporary) at Craigslist? The website is craigslist.org. Have you tried local rescue groups? Can you ask around to see who else may be able to help you? I have a cat of my own and I cannot imagine giving her up for anything. I hope you are able to find a solution that doesn't involve giving them up for euthanisation.
