An update on my kitty - I did some research, and located a homeopathic vet in my area. She recommended a homeopathic preparation called Traumeel, which I give in drop form twice a day. It is recommended in all soft-tissue injuries, to promote healing and recovery while also relieving pain. I am pleased to say I have seen tremendous improvement. While she still limps (this may never totally go away) she is doing stairs several times a day, interacts well with other pets and with humans, and her appetite has improved. Every week seems to be that much better. I am so pleased and grateful for the advise of this vet; it sickens me to think I may have acted on the recommendation to have that leg amputated. (By the way I spent $25 on Traumeel - a fraction of what surgery would have cost!)
